Typical Challenges & Potential Solutions
I know a lot of enterprises are (perhaps belatedly) getting concerned with managing personal information (authentication credentials, PCI, HIPPA, GDPR, ..) . Unfortunately, the approaches they're being sold don't actually solve the fundamental problems – a centralized, high-value attack surface (for example). These same limited approaches affect their attempts to break apart monolithic business logic, deploy dynamically provisioned compute infrastructure reliably/securely, etc.
Doing something that can't work – just doing it harder – isn't going to defeat these problems at their root cause. This kind of thing happens, a lot, unfortunately.
There are recent breakthroughs (Zero-Knowledge proofs, Homomorphic Encryption, Agent-based distributed systems, deterministic composable software deployment, …) that provide new, powerful tools that can be deployed at scale, today.
They just don't know about these tools … yet.
Some Capabilities
My background may align closely with the requirements and challenges many enterprises are attempting to overcome:
High-Performance Systems:
- My experience in developing a Software-Defined Radio signal processing platform capable of processing multi-channel radio signal data in real-time on commodity hardware showcases my ability to create high-performance, low-latency systems crucial for financial and industrial applications.
Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Expertise:
- I have been researching and developing in the cryptocurrency space for over a decade. My recent work with Holo Ltd. on their HoloFuel cryptocurrency, including developing prototype implementations of the core transaction engine, demonstrates my deep understanding of blockchain technology and distributed consensus algorithms.
- I have also implemented a leading SLIP-39 App for safely backing up Cryptocurrency wallets, and have architected, verified and tested complex Ethereum smart contracts in Solidity.
Scalable and Secure Infrastructure:
- Throughout my career, I have consistently developed systems with a focus on security and scalability. The custom RTUs I developed for Enbridge, which have run reliably for years in hundreds of remote installations, showcase my ability to create robust, upgradeable systems suitable for critical infrastructure.
Cloud and Containerization:
- I am proficient in working with containerized environments and cloud infrastructure, essential skills for managing systems running on dynamically provisioned infrastructure.
Microservices Architecture:
- I have extensive experience in decomposing monolithic applications into microservices. My work on the LiveWIRE communications system for Enbridge Pipelines demonstrates my ability to design and implement scalable, distributed systems that can handle massive failure and corruption across multiple communication links while maintaining real-time monitoring and control.
Financial Systems Experience:
- My work on various industrial control and monitoring systems, as well as my experience in the financial sector with a large retail financial firm, provides me with valuable insights into building reliable and secure financial systems.
Diverse Technology Stack:
- I am proficient in multiple programming languages and technologies, including C++, Python, and Rust, Assembly/SIMD and many others.
- I also have experience with various databases and have worked extensively with custom protocols and APIs. This includes many esoteric database technologies few others have encountered.
